Utah Democrats nominate a proven public servant to fight for working families, veterans, and the future of the 4th District

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Delegates overwhelmingly selected Jonny Larsen as the Democratic nominee for Utah's newly redrawn 4th Congressional District at the 2026 Utah Democratic Party Nominating Convention, held yesterday at Jordan High School in Sandy. Larsen, a Marine Corps combat veteran and IT administrator, is running on a straightforward promise: fight for working families with dignity, integrity, and solidarity.

"Home prices have doubled. Wages haven’t kept up with the cost of living. Veterans are driving hours for basic care while politicians cut VA healthcare staff, of which 30% are veterans themselves," said Larsen. "It is time for a representative who answers to the people, not to billionaires and corporations who profit on war."

A West High School alumnus, Larsen enlisted in the Marine Corps infantry at 17, serving from 2000 to 2004 and rising to the rank of Sergeant. He was present in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001, witnessed the attack on the Pentagon firsthand, and stood as part of the first Honor Guard at Ground Zero in New York City. He deployed twice to Iraq before returning home, working as an IT administrator, and pursued a dual degree in math and physics at the University of Utah.

His campaign priorities reflect the pressures facing everyday Utahns: expanding access to affordable healthcare and VA services for veterans across the district, lowering the cost of living for working families, protecting public lands, and ensuring the economy works for workers, not just those at the top. On veterans' care, Larsen is direct: there is not a single VA clinic in Tooele, Sevier, Millard, or Sanpete counties, an unacceptable gap for a district that includes Camp Williams, Dugway Proving Ground, and the Tooele Army Depot.

Utah's 4th Congressional District has been redrawn following a years-long redistricting process, and Democrats have been gaining solid ground across the state over recent election cycles. 2026 presents a genuine opportunity to send a new voice to Congress.
